Albeniz: Asturias (Leyenda)

Isaac Albeniz originally composed this piece for the piano. The version played on the Spanish guitar is richer and warmer. This is one of my favorite piece of classical music, second to Capricho Arabe. My heart races upon hearing the first chord progessing into what feels like Allegro appassionato. It’s beautiful, fast, melodic and mysterious especially during the part played in Andante tranquillo.

Andres Segovia is calm too. He played this tune when he was like 90 years old, had poor eye sight and still rocked.
